Vocabulary¶
This page collects the core terms used throughout the Predico documentation and platform. Use it as a quick reference when reading the guides, the API docs, or the Participation Rulebook — terms in bold elsewhere in the docs map back to the definitions below.
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Market Owner | Owner of resources or a grid (e.g. wind farm owner, TSO) that funds forecasting sessions. |
| Program | A market owner's configured offering: which horizon categories it publishes, at which gate-closure hours, and its reward structure. Built on the platform's hourly sessions. See Programs. |
| Forecaster | Registered participant who submits forecasts and competes for rewards. |
| Market Session | A window during which Market Owners publish challenges and Forecasters submit forecasts. |
| Market Challenge | A single forecasting opportunity inside a session, with its own target variable, horizon and gate. |
| Gate Closure | Deadline after which no more submissions are accepted for a challenge (authoritative field: gate_closure). |
| Horizon Category | intraday, day-ahead (D+1), or extended (D+N). See Sessions & Challenges. |
| Forecast Variables | Currently quantiles Q10, Q50, Q90. |
| Ensemble Forecast | Aggregate forecast derived from all forecasters' submissions. |
| Settled measurement | The market owner's consolidated value for a timestamp, used to compute scores once the month is frozen. |
| Near-real-time measurement | A provisional value published minutes after the fact, replaced by the settled one on a later re-import. Not every resource has one. |
| Settlement freeze | The day of the following month after which a month's measurements no longer change (day 6 for the current programs), fixing the monthly ranking. |
| Control area | A TSO's balancing zone, identified by an ENTSO-E area code (e.g. 10YDE-VE-------2 for 50Hertz). A control-area target is the sum over every asset in that zone. |
